OneRepublic performs in Manila this November 2013

Posted on 23:09 by Unknown
OneRepublic first achieved success as the number one unsigned act on MySpace Music. Their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud, released in 2007 includes the singles “Stop and Stare,” “Say (All I Need)” and the smash hit “Apologize” which ranks in the Top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100’s All-Time Top Songs list. A remix version of “Apologize” was also featured on Timbaland’s album released the same year. In 2008, they toured with Maroon 5 and even appeared on the American Idol finale, alongside David Archuleta.
The band’s second album, Waking Up, was released in 2009 and had four official singles, “All the Right Moves,” “Secrets,” “Marchin’ On,” and “Good Life.” The singles and other songs from the album have been widely featured and even used as promotional material for US TV shows and movies. “Secrets,” was used in the movie The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and TV shows Lostand Pretty Little Liars; “Good Life” was featured in the trailers for the movies One Day and Eat Pray Love.

OneRepublic’s latest album, Native, was released in March 2013 and became the band’s highest charting album to date. In creating their third full-length album, the band traveled to Paris, Greece, London, New York, Seattle, and Vancouver to write, record, and immerse themselves in elevating and expanding their already-sweeping sound. Also working at lead singer/songwriter/ keyboardist and GRAMMY® winner Ryan Tedder’s own Patriot Studios in Denver, OneRepublic redefined their approach to rhythm and infused their high-powered rock-pop hybrid with elements of electronic music, gospel, blues, and folk.

“There’s this crazy juxtaposition happening on the album,” says Tedder, whose bandmates include Zach Filkins (guitar), Drew Brown (guitar), Brent Kutzle (bass, cello), and Eddie Fisher (drums). “On one hand we tiptoed into the EDM world and brought in that energy, drive, and tempo, but on the other it’s got a lot of acoustic guitar and a much more organic feel than what we’ve done before.” For help in achieving that supercharged but soulful sound, OneRepublic collaborated with leading-edge producers like Philippe Zdar (the French composer known for his work with artists like Phoenix, The Beastie Boys, Cat Power, and Depeche Mode), Jeff Bhasker (Kanye west, Jay Z, the Rolling Stones,  Fun.) and Benny Blanco (Maroon 5, Rihanna, Gym Class Heroes).  Nativealso features some guest artists, such as Adele backup singer Bobbie Gordon, as well as Grecian harpist HarpEri, (recruited while OneRepublic was recording at the famed Black Rock Studios in Santorini).

Though the album’s built on deftly crafted beats and intricately textured arrangements, a spirit of simplicity stands at the heart of Native. “Our goal is always to put out the most honest record possible. So even though we’re very much inspired by EDM, I also love what’s happening with folk music today. It’s cool to see that the world doesn’t always need 300 beats per minute, that just an acoustic guitar and a voice can connect with people,” says Tedder, who also points out that “the swampy, stompy feel of Southern Delta blues” played a major role in helping OneRepublic to instill Native with a certain raw energy. OneRepublic also looked to the folk and blues movements in teasing out the emotional content of Native. “These new songs are about mortality, love, hope, desperation, faith, failure—the whole gamut of human emotion,” Tedder says. “We try to give the lyrics a certain gravity without being preachy, and make the kind of music that music that connects with people not just at a party or a club on Saturday night.”
OneRepublic live in Manila on November 6, 2013 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. For updates visit www.onerepublic.com

Metallica in Singapore this August 2013

Posted on 02:52 by Unknown
The wait is over! LAMC Productions is thrilled to welcome icons METALLICA to Singapore for the first time in 20 years! The concert will take place at Changi Exhibition Centre on Saturday, August 24 at 8pm.

Metallica’s concert will be the first ever concert to be staged at the Changi Exhibition Centre. “There wasn’t a venue big enough for Metallica in Singapore so we had to make a new one.” says Ross Knudson, co-owner of LAMC Productions.

To ensure convenience of concert goers travelling to Changi Exhibition Centre, there will be public shuttle service to the event grounds and after the concert. Schedules and pick up point locations will be advised at a later date.

Formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield, Metallica have become one of the most influential and commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold 110 million albums worldwide and playing to millions of fans the world over. They have scored several multi-platinum albums, including 1991’s Metallica (commonly referred to as “The Black Album”), which is the best selling album in history of Soundscan scanning 16 million albums in the United States alone. Their latest album, Death Magnetic, was certified platinum just six weeks after it debuted atop the Billboard Top 200 Album chart in October 2008. Death Magnetic charted at #1 in 32 countries. Metallica have also garnered numerous awards and accolades, including nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, and multiple MTV Video Music Awards, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009.

The band recently celebrated its 30th-Anniversary with a week’s worth of fan club concerts at the Fillmore Theater in San Francisco, CA. In 2012, they announced the launch of Orion Music + More, an annual two-day festival curated and headlined by the band.  This past summer, Metallica unveiled a brand new stage in Mexico City that featured iconic elements that spanned its 30-year career. They played eight shows to nearly 180,000 fans at the Sports Arena in Mexico City. Later that month the band performed four shows on the same stage in Canada, two in Edmonton and two in Vancouver, during which they shot their upcoming Nimród Antal directed 3D Feature Film, Through The Never, which will be released in 2013.

When it comes to touring, there are few, if any, bands who deliver live the way Metallica do. Their shows, which began in clubs and garages in the early eighties, are now selling out in arenas and stadiums throughout the world, and continue to be among the most intense, powerful and visually stimulating concert experiences ever delivered. The most impressive achievement that bears mentioning is the fact that Metallica continue to be a strong attraction in the touring world; a truly rare feat in today’s mercurial entertainment business, where fans often change allegiance to bands as often as they do hairstyles.

Metallica are a band whose success can be directly attributed to a passion and no-compromise attitude in every project they undertake.

AVICII: RE-SET TO PERFORM IN MOA ARENA ON MAY 15

Posted on 12:38 by Unknown

Hailed by Rolling Stone magazine as “one of the Princes of the contemporary renaissance of EDM”, Grammy-nominated Avicii - born Tim Bergling - is best known for his acclaimed live performances and for international mega-hit ‘Levels’. It conquered club charts worldwide, racked up over 50 million YouTube views, and was declared David Guetta’s “Tune of 2011” in DJ Mag. Following an intense and prolific touring schedule as well as the worldwide release of his summer smash hit ‘Silhouettes’ this year, the Swede soared to No.3 in the 2012 DJ Mag poll of the Top 100 DJs after just three years of performing.

In 2012 alone, he’s headlined Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrow land, Electric Daisy Carnival and Lollapallooza, while his first summer residency at Ushuaïa Beach Hotel in Ibiza smashed the party island to smithereens.

Avicii is also one of the genre’s most sought after collaborators. His ‘Superlove’ collaboration with Lenny Kravitz and remix of Madonna’s ‘Girls Gone Wild’ are among the most acclaimed tracks this year.

To put it lightly, what Avicii and his manager Ash has managed to achieve in just a few years is truly astonishing. Commencing his dizzying journey at the tender age of 18, the self-taught, fresh-faced Swedish luminary has unquestionably amassed greater success before turning 22 than most could ever hope to achieve in a lifetime.

The mastermind behind smash hit phenomena Seek Bromance, Levels and Fade into Darkness and chief collaborator for the chart topping My Feelings for You, he has soared from budding bedroom music-maker to international electronic sensation in a matter of years, and already stands shoulder-to-shoulder with just a handful of the most in-demand and elite DJs on the planet. We can only dare to imagine what will be accomplished in a whole career…

The partnership between himself and manager Ash has flourished beyond all expectations – the unrelenting Avicii continues to masterfully hone his unique brand of high-octane, melodic house music, while the successes flood in.

Amongst others, it was his critically acclaimed Muja EP and smash hit Ryu (which became Pete Tong’s “Essential New Tune” and Tiesto’s “Track Of The Week”) that led Avicii to even greater accomplishment, as in 2009 he was crowned “Breakthrough Producer/DJ of the Year” in DJ Magazine’s ‘Top 100’ special edition, and “The Swedish Future” in ‘Only for DJs’ Magazine (FR). These were exciting times for the youngster, and consistently exquisite production outputs flowed thick and fast, but it was the events of the following Summer that truly took him to the next level as an artist, as the Swedish superstar sought a little bit of bromance…

Released under his alias, and quasi-namesake, ‘Tim Berg’, the triumphant phenomenon that was Seek Bromance saw the plucky Swede escalated to previously unbeknownst heights and out-right superstardom, as the track became the international dance anthem for the summer. Reaching Number 1 Beatport status after just two days, it climbed to top ten in the official national charts of ten countries across the globe – an achievement unheard-of for even the biggest of dance music megastars. Just a month later, his smash hit collaboration with Sebastian Drums My Feelings For You, reached the coveted Number 1 spot once again, remaining there for an astonishing 5 weeks. By the end of summer 2010, Tim Berg, Avicii, Tim Bergling – whatever you may choose to call him – were the words on everybody’s lips and demand soured!

Deftones Returns To Manila!

Posted on 02:05 by Unknown

After the success that was the Manila leg of the Diamond Eyes tour last 2011, DEFTONES are finally set to return to the Philippines! The show will be part of the band’s tour in support of their recently recorded album “Koi No Yokan”, which was released in November of last year. The Grammy Award winning band from Sacramento, California, comprises Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Frank Delgado, Abe Cunningham and Quicksand’s Sergio Vega filling in for bassist Chi Cheng. The band has successfully built upon their particular style of heavy music to be one of the most forward-thinking bands of our generation.

They’re also known for being one of the most hardworking bands in the business, always touring extensively behind their albums. “Koi No Yokan” is the seventh album from the band.

LUNETA THROUGH TIME: Experience the History of the Philippines in Luneta

Posted on 03:14 by Unknown

Filipinos residing in the Metro are too much occupied with their busy lives or what is new and what is trendy. They have long forgotten all about how the country came to be what it is now, who contributed to the present, what events took place and where all those events happened.  Rizal Park, more commonly known as Luneta is one of those places with a very important story to tell.

Attempts have been made to bring back the public’s impression of Luneta. So far, none of them has made considerable changes. This time, a group of seven (7) students has made yet another attempt to recreate the park’s image in the consumers’ minds. The event called Luneta Through Time challenges to make the public, particularly the wealthier portion increase their nationalistic sense by letting them taste culture through the Filipino cuisine and by having them witness performances that signify notable events happened in the past.

Indeed it’s nearing that time of the year again—fresh graduates have already booked their flights to Boracay, the right of passage that solidifies their final summer as students, before entering the real world; those working are searching tirelessly for special promo flights to their favorite summer destinations, and for those staying in the metro, they are most probably wondering: what can I look forward to this summer?

Mark your calendars; this summer CloseUp introduces a new meaning to Summer Solstice, a new tradition, which will summon all party goers, music lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone and everyone looking for a good time, to an open field in the name of music.

JAMES MORRISON Live! In Manila: The Awakening World Tour

Posted on 07:32 by Unknown

A special evening is in store for Filipinos as the English singer-songwriter and guitarist JAMES MORRISON performs in Manila on October 9, 2012 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

JAMES MORRISON achieved worldwide success in 2006 with the release of his debut single “You Give Me Something.” His first album, Undiscovered under MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines), debuted at the top of the UK Album Chart and sold millions of copies, making him the biggest-selling British male solo artist in 2006. The album, which also has the hit singles “Wonderful World,” and “The Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore” won him a BRIT Award in 2007 for Best British Male Solo Artist.

JAMES MORRISON is currently touring to promote his album, The Awakening, released in September 2011 also under MCA Music. As the title of his third and by far best album suggests, The Awakening is the sound of an artist coming of age. In his personal life, Morrison has become a father, while losing his own father after the latter’s long battle with alcoholism and depression. At the same time, Morrison, 26, has matured as a singer, songwriter and musician, enabling him to channel all of that emotion into his most accomplished collection of songs yet. “My first two albums felt like practice shots,” he says, “and now I’ve graduated. In many ways this feels like my first proper album.” Fortunately, The Awakening has turned out to be the album that Morrison always had the potential to make – at last a worthy platform for his extraordinary singing voice. “This time I wasn’t worrying about success at all, and that’s why it was really enjoyable. I didn’t feel I had to go for the big, loud notes all the time – I just sat back and sang how I felt and it all just came flooding out.”

The Awakeningis a warm, live-sounding collection of classic but contemporary folk-soul songs. There are musical similarities with Morrison’s debut, but with added panache and self-belief. There are soaring strings, uplifting harmonies, soulful ballads and, in Slave to the Music, a hand-clapping dance floor groover – a new string to his bow. There are nods to Motown, gospel, country and a hint of Latin. Technically, Morrison remains one of the finest white soul singers, equal parts Stevie Wonder and Paul Young. But he is more than just a Big Voice – he sings from the heart. “To me, pop music is just great music that lasts for years,” he says. “Though there is the other side of pop, which is where you have a hit, but then, after it comes out, it never gets heard again. I never wanted to make that sort of music.”

JAMES MORRISON’s albums are out now in CDs exclusively under MCA Music available at Astroplus and Odyssey Music and Video or online via iTunes and www.MyMusicStore.com.ph

SNOW PATROL Live! In Manila: Fallen Empires Tour

Posted on 20:20 by Unknown

Be ready as alternative rock band from Ireland, SNOW PATROL,gives Manila a performance fueled with artistic passion and musical ingenuity this August 9th at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Snow Patrol’s songs echo a contradicting sense of sweetness and edginess. They have a loyal fan base that keeps to their music as anthems of life, love and hope. They appeal not entirely to the mainstream market but to a select few who understands and relates well to the songs penned by lead vocalist Gary Lightbody. Their musical style varies from the almost melancholic “Chasing Cars” to the incredibly catchy and upbeat “Take Back the City”, but still maintains that trademark sound made even more memorable by Gary’s brooding baritone.

Snow Patrol’s major breakthrough came with the release of their album “Eyes Open” (2006)under MCA Music, from which the hit single “Chasing Cars” came from. The worldwide recognition of the band’s remarkable talent and gift for earnest lyrics established their foothold in the music industry. The mainstream success of the song “Chasing Cars” was highlighted further after it was featured in the popular TV Series Grey’s Anatomy. At the same time, the song received multiple Grammy Award nominations for Best Single in 2006 and Best Rock Song in 2007 as well as a Brit Award for Best Single all on the same year. “Eyes Open”eventually became UK’s Best Selling Album in 2006.

In their latest album,“Fallen Empires”, Snow Patrol seeks to experiment with their sounds and musical approach, taking creativity to the next level. It may seem like a departure from their usual sound but this collection is still identifiably Snow Patrol.

Snow Patrol is composed of Gary Lightbody on lead vocals & rhythm guitar, Jonny Quinn on drums & percussion, Pablo Wilson on bass guitar/backing vocals, Nathan Connolly on lead guitar/backing vocals and Tom Simpson on keyboards.

Snow Patrol’salbums are out now in CDs exclusively under MCA Music available at Astroplus and Odyssey Music and Video or online via iTunes and www.MyMusicStore.com.ph

Press Release: The Fray Live in Manila

Posted on 11:49 by Unknown

This band knew how to save a life; with genuinely written songs that tug at every heart strings, they were able to connect with people and on a few occasions might have saved someone’s life through their heartfelt songs. On June 21, 2012 prepare for a celebration of love, sorrow and life as THE FRAY gives Manila a one night of auditory pleasure.

Formed in 2002, American pop rock band from Denver, Colorado started as a worship band and was initially composed of Isaac Slade and Joe King then joined later on by Dave Welsh and Ben Wysocki. They made waves in 2005 with their breakthrough single “How To Save A Life”. The single reached Top 3 in the Billboards Hot 100 and was certified double platinum by RIAA. The album, How To Save A Life, where the same titled song came from also brought forth the hit “Over My Head (Cable Car)”. The band was then nominated for Grammy Awards for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or a Group and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or a Group in 2007. These singles propelled the band into commercial success and international recognition.

“How To Save a Life” was featured in the hit TV Series Grey’s Anatomy and Scrubs, making it one of the most played and widely recognized song in that 2006-2007. The song’s inspired lyrics came from an encounter Isaac Slade had with a boy with drug problems and realizing that all the boy need was support from his friends and family.  People related so well with the song it opened up variety of interpretations, all in all, the song was able to touched the hearts of many and thus solidify The Fray’s ability to reach out to their audiences at a deeper level.

Their single “You Found Me” from their self titled sophomore album The Fray, debuted at #28 at the Hot 100 and peaked at #7. “Never Say Never” also from their second album was featured in the movie Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, allowing them to increase their loyal fan following worldwide. With the release of their latest single the upbeat and ear friendly “Heartbeat” from their latest album Scars and Stories, The Fray once again displayed the emotional side of rock and their ability to connect to people.

The Fray’s musical approach is composed of piano driven, mid tempo tunes with a laidback feel. Their music is easy to listen to and the lyrics are highly relatable and heartfelt. Some compared the band to the likes of Coldplay and Keane primarily because of the piano driven tracks that leads into power ballads, though they cited The Wallflowers, Counting Crows and U2 as few of their influences.  Isaac Slade vocal style gave The Fray the distinction it deserves.  The band’s ability to render poetic, moving and sincere words into their songs is their strongest point, that and never lacking in melody and catchy hooks.

Be the first to witness The Fray’s first time performance here in Manila on June 21, 2012 at the new Mall of Asia Arena. For tickets visit www.smtickets.comor call 470-2222.

Press Release: Lifehouse Live in Manila 2012 on May 26

Posted on 11:36 by Unknown

Expect another heartfelt performance from the band that gave us the hits “You and Me”, “Sick Cycle Carousel”, “First Time” and many more. Lifehouse live in Manila on May 26, 2012 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

It is not surprising that Lifehouse was able to maintain a solid fan base here in the Philippines. Starting with their hit single “Hanging by A Moment”, the band was able to capture the pulse of the Filipino: love for love songs. Though Lifehouse’s music may be classified as radio friendly rock songs, they were still able to catch the attention of ballad lovers here in the country. Lifehouse music centers on love, losing someone, faith, life and survival. Their songs contemporary and echoes sweet but concise sentiments that are easy to relate to.

Songs in their earlier albums also talks about faith and believing, which also added to their allure as Christian music. Their lyrics in “Take Me Away”, “Everything” and “Breathing” may be interpreted as an ode to God but their words were not imposing, it’s sweet, sentimental and moving. Lifehouse strength lies in their ability to effectively speak of feelings without sounding cheesy or forced. This type of songwriting gave them an edge over other alternative rock bands.

Catch another exquisite and remarkable performance and fall in love once again with Lifehouse.  Lifehouse Live in Manila on May 26, 2012at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
