When the sun sits at its highest point and heralds the beginning of the hottest season of the year, it signifies that the solstice has arrived—the longest day of the year and the start of the most anticipated season: summer.
Indeed it’s nearing that time of the year again—fresh graduates have already booked their flights to Boracay, the right of passage that solidifies their final summer as students, before entering the real world; those working are searching tirelessly for special promo flights to their favorite summer destinations, and for those staying in the metro, they are most probably wondering: what can I look forward to this summer?
Mark your calendars; this summer CloseUp introduces a new meaning to Summer Solstice, a new tradition, which will summon all party goers, music lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone and everyone looking for a good time, to an open field in the name of music.
12-hours of non-stop summer partying, as CloseUp gives you 12-hours of non-stop fresh breath.
Last March 5th at White Space, CloseUp officially announced the Summer Solstice music festival, featuring both local and foreign artists, guaranteed to give you a summer experience you will never forget.
“CloseUp has always taken pride in its musical heritage, with iconic songs that have touched the hearts of numerous generations, and with record-breaking events such as Lovapalooza. This year, it’s time to embark on a new adventure—something that has never been done before, something that creates an avenue for people to get even closer,” says CloseUp Philippines Brand Manager, John Imperial.
Closeup’s new breed, social groups consisting of ABS-CBN’s Enrique Gil, Colleen Garcia and Matteo Guidicelli; GMA’s Rocco Nacino, Enzo Pineda and Steven Silva; close friends Mike Concepcion, Ava Daza, Carla Humphries, and Nicole Andersson; bloggers Kryz Uy, Camille Co and Laureen Uy, Vern and Verniece Enciso, David Guison, Seph Cham, and Shai Lagarde; and 89.9 Radio DJs Riki Flores, Andi Manzano, Jessica Mendoza and Suzy Gamboa were all present at the media launch to announce the lineup of artists.
CloseUp’s social groups were all involved in the artist selection process, each group contributing their favorite bands and music genres.
Staying true to the increasing mainstream infiltration of the Electronic Dance Music genre—better known as EDM—headlining Summer Solstice will be Grammy winning DJ, Afrojack. Ranked in the top ten on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s of 2012, Afrojack has had hit collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Pitbull (“Give me Everything”), Ne-Yo (“Nayer”) and Beyonce (“Run the World”). Also representing the EDM genre will be Cedric Gervais, the producer of one of the top EDM hits of 2012, “Molly”, Apster, and Italian DJ Alex Gaudino. Representing the female category is the voice behind “Like a G6” and “Bass Down Low”, Dev, Party Rockers’ Jump Smokers complete the foreign lineup.
Catering to all music tastes, Summer Solstice has also injected some local flavor with Urbandub, Sponge Cola, and Sandwich.
Summer Solstice will take place on April 27th at the Mall of Asia Open Grounds. Tickets will be sold in all Ticketnet, Ticketworld and SM ticket outlets starting March 18th. GenAd tickets will be sold at PHP 2,000 and VIP tickets will be PHP 5,000. For additional information visit the CloseUp Summer Solstice official website www.closeupsummersolstice.com.ph.
