We’re sure everyone is feeling a little more lovey-dovey than usual, especially with Valentines fast approaching. One of the many concerts to be staged during the love month is James Ingram The Birthday Valentine Concert.
The popular American R and B singer will be sharing the stage with no less than Filipino international singer and world-class talent Lea Salonga! He will be performing at the Araneta Coliseum on February 17 and at the Pacific Grand Ballroom Waterfront hotel Cebu on February 18. Lea is set to perform at least two to three duets with James, something we are sure a lot of people are looking forward to!
According to an article on ABS-CBN.com, Salonga is a fan of Ingram and she is excited to share the stage with him. "So at least masasabi ko na kahit minsan lang nagkasama kami nagka-duet kami and I'm sure because of his experience there are still of lot things that I can pick up. Salamat na lang at free ang schedule na hanggang Cebu ay makakasama ako," she enthused. Some of the Tony Award winner’s favorite tunes are I Will Be There, Just Once, and I Don’t Have A Heart.
The show will be doubly special for Ingram because he will be celebrating his 50th birthday in Manila on February 16! As we all know the name James Ingram needs no introduction. He is a music icon, a Grammy award winner and back-to-back Oscar nominee who has touched the hearts of millions of people around the world with his timeless tunes.
Majority of those timeless tunes were included in various soundtracks like the 1982 flick Best Friends which featured the duet How Do You Keep The Music Playing, a duet performed by Ingram and Patti Austin which earned him a Grammy Award and Academy award nomination under the Original song category. Who can also forget the tune Somewhere Out There featured in the 1986 animated flick American Tail which also received a Grammy for Song of the Year. Other notable contributions were "Don't Make Me No Never Mind," co-written with Quincy Jones and Roy Gaines for Steven Spielberg's The Color Purple and Ingram's duet with Anita Baker, "When You Love Someone," by Bryan Adams, for the movie Forget Paris (1995).
The 90s were some of the best years for Ingram who began it by co-producing the album I Don’t Have The Heart with Thom Bell which rose to No 1 in 1990; 9 years after in 1999, Ingram released Forever More: The Best of James Ingram, a compilation of some of his biggest hits as well as new material.
